Raise the Young Foundation successfully organised the first beach session under the Girls’ Summer Bantaba programme held on saturay 15th August 2026, under the theme“The role of young people in strengthening peace and community cohesion,.” The session provided mentees with an interactive space to explore peace, conflict resolution, anger management, and their role in promoting peaceful communities.
The session began with an interactive “Leading the Blind” activity, where participants worked in pairs, with one person blindfolded and the other serving as a guide. The activity highlighted the importance of trust, communication, patience, leadership, and responsibility. Participants reflected on their experiences and discussed how trust and effective communication contribute to peaceful relationships.
The facilitator, Mariama Sallah, led discussions on different dimensions of peace, including personal, interpersonal, positive, negative, and international peace. Participants also discussed factors that affect their peace of mind, anger triggers, and practical approaches to conflict resolution, including compromise and collaboration.
The session concluded with reflections and closing remarks delivered by Saffiatou Njie. Participants were encouraged to apply the lessons learned, particularly the importance of respect, patience, trust, effective communication, mutual understanding, and emotional awareness in building peaceful relationships and communities. The session ended with a group photograph.
Overall, the session provided a meaningful learning experience and strengthened the mentees’ understanding of their role in peacebuilding and peacekeeping.
