Our Story, Mission and Vision

Background History

The Raise The Young Foundation (RTYF) is a youth-led organisation dedicated to advancing gender equality, human rights, and the protection of women, girls, and children in The Gambia. Founded on the belief that every individual deserves a safe and empowering environment, RTYF works to end discrimination and violence against women and girls while promoting social inclusion and justice.

RTYF’s theory of change for Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) emphasizes tackling both structural and individual barriers that hinder progress. By building strong community alliances and promoting sensitivity to diversity—gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, and sexual orientation—the organisation strives for a holistic and inclusive transformation.

RTYF works across The Gambia to empower youth and women, foster social cohesion, and advocate for fair policies that protect the vulnerable. It partners with communities, governments, and international agencies to deliver sustainable programs that create lasting social impact.
