RTYF Hosts Children’s Fun Day to Celebrate Joy, Learning, and Inclusion

The Raise The Young Foundation (RTYF) brought smiles, laughter, and inspiration to dozens of children during its annual Children’s Fun Day Celebration held at the Bakau Community Park. The event, themed “Every Child Deserves to Shine,” was a vibrant blend of play, creativity, and learning — all centered around promoting the rights and well-being of children in The Gambia.

The day featured games, music, storytelling, art sessions, and talent showcases, giving children a platform to express themselves freely and build confidence in a safe and inclusive space. Volunteers from RTYF, teachers, and community leaders joined hands to ensure every child felt valued, loved, and supported.

In her welcoming remarks, RTYF Program Manager, Fatou Jallow, highlighted the essence of the day:

“Our Children’s Fun Day is more than entertainment — it’s about empowering young minds, celebrating their potential, and reminding society of its duty to nurture and protect every child.”

Beyond the fun and laughter, RTYF used the opportunity to engage parents and guardians in brief discussions on child protection, education, health, and positive parenting. Informational booths and activity corners helped raise awareness about children’s rights and the importance of creating environments free from violence and discrimination.

Children received books, toys, and school supplies donated by local partners and well-wishers. The event concluded with a heartfelt performance by the RTYF Kids’ Club, who presented a song titled “Together for Every Child.”

One of the young participants, Awa, age 9, expressed her joy:

“I learned how to draw, played games, and made new friends. I want to come again next year!”

Through events like this, RTYF continues to reaffirm its mission to uplift, empower, and protect children across The Gambia — nurturing a generation that is confident, creative, and compassionate.

“When we invest in children’s happiness and education, we invest in a brighter, fairer future for The Gambia,” added RTYF Executive Director, [insert name].

The Children’s Fun Day is part of RTYF’s ongoing Child Empowerment and Protection Program (CEPP) — an initiative designed to promote children’s rights, enhance access to quality education, and create safe spaces for play, growth, and self-expression.
